Hardware Used During Calibrations

When selecting a professional calibrator, it is essential you find one that is using an accurate meter to take the measurements, high quality software to generate the reports, and a reference grade signal generator to display the patterns.

Meters

We use the highly regarded Eye-One (i1) Pro Enhanced under current certification (less than one year) from X-Rite in switzerland. A copy of this certification is included with every professional calibration report. The Eye-One Pro is a spectrophotometer, as opposed to a tristimulus (or colorimeter), so it is far more accurate across all types of displays. Beware of any calibrator using anything other than a spectrophotometer (also called spectroradiometers), no matter how much their inferior meter cost!

Software

The latest version of Spectracal's Calman is our software of choice due to it's direct display control capabilities across many brands and it's workflow customization. The Imaging Science Foundation also uses Calman in all their presentations and workshops.

Signal Generators

One reason we are able to offer our current promotion is due to our frugal choice of a pattern generator. For the time being, we use the Panasonic BDT-210 Blu-Ray player due to it's unique ability to perfectly pass data thus serving as an excellent yet affordable pattern generator when coupled with the right calibration discs such as AVSHD 709; Spears & Munsil High Definition Benchmark; and for standard definition applications, Get Grey.
